On August 3, 2023, Pays de la Sagouine in Grand-Bouctouche, New Brunswick, experienced a landmark moment: the opening of Atlantic Canada's first Lumina Night Walk. Conceived in collaboration with the brilliant Lumina creators, Moment Factory Multimedia Studios, Akadi Lumina invites visitors to a unique artistic experience, brought to life on a 1.5 km forest trail, leading them through a series of immersive zones where light, video and music touchingly and authentically reveal the very essence of Acadie.
The experience quickly became the talk of the East Coast and beyond, capturing the hearts of over 40,000 visitors in less than three months of operation. The second season promises to be just as impressive. Committed to offering an unrivalled experience, the Akadi Lumina team has added a new welcome centre - housing a ticket office, bar, boutique and bathrooms - which is now located in the site dedicated to the post-experience zone.
The post-experience zone will also henceforth be identified under its new name - Espace UNI - in recognition of the ongoing support of UNI Financial Cooperation, Akadi Lumina's main sponsor.
“As a French institution in New-Brunswick, we firmly believe in supporting one another. We are proud to support Akadi Lumina and delighted to maintain our commitment to this francophone and Acadian gem. We recognize the significant socio-economic impact the Pays de la Sagouine brings to our region, our province and across Atlantic Canada,” says Camille Thériault President and Chief Executive Officer” Akadi Lumina is the first of many new features to come to the Pays de la Sagouine, as part of its major infrastructure project announced in July 2023, on the Pays' 30th anniversary. "Akadi Lumina is the first step in our major repositioning project to ensure the long-term success and sustainability of the Pays de la Sagouine," said Monique Poirier, Executive Director and Artistic Director of the Pays de La Sagouine.
"It's a testament to the extraordinary potential of imagination and creativity, as we work on the next phase of our major project. Akadi Lumina is also a source of inspiration. As Antonine Maillet said, "The possibilities are infinite," she added.
Akadi Lumina's 2024 season runs from May 17 to mid-October, with evening departures a few minutes after sunset. Tickets are $29 for adults, $21 for youth and $14 for children. Admission is free for children under 5. All ticket prices are subject to service charges and taxes.
